Trichoscopic Examination at Agape

At Agape, a key component of determining the root cause of hair loss is the Trichoscopic Examination. This specialized assessment helps us identify underlying issues affecting your hair and scalp.

  • Tricho-" comes from the Greek word "thrix," meaning hair.
  • "scopy" comes from "skopein," meaning to look or examine.

So, trichoscopy literally means the observation or examination of hair. It involves using advanced, non-invasive tools to closely examine both the hair and scalp to diagnose various conditions.

The Trichoscopic Examination is painless, completely non-invasive, and safe for all ages and scalp conditions, even the most sensitive. There are no after-effects, making it a simple, comfortable experience.

We use a research-grade trichoscope (a high-magnification camera) paired with state-of-the-art software to capture and store photos, videos, and measurements of your scalp and hair.

During your trichoscopic examination, you will be seated and able to view the examination in real-time while engaging in a dialogue with our expert about the findings. Following the session, you’ll receive a full-color report, which will be sent to you initially and at intervals during your treatment.

The trichoscopic examination helps us identify various scalp conditions such as dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, inflammation, fungal infections, and more. It is essential for diagnosing hair loss, as it reveals details not visible to the naked eye, including hair density, hair strand quality, the growth phases of individual hairs, and even dormant or scarred hair follicles.

Additionally, trichoscopic examination plays a vital role in assessing the effectiveness of treatment protocols. By taking initial measurements and conducting follow-up evaluations at various stages, we can track your progress and adjust treatments as necessary.
